The Great Gatsby Text 4/12/13

Hello students

After break we will be starting our new unit on The Great Gatsby and the 1920's.  I have been able to acquire thirty copies for in-class use only; however, some of the reading will have to be accomplished indepedently out of class.  Therefore, I will need you to choose one of the following options to use as your way of doing the reading out of class.

1. You can access the complete text via this link: http://ebooks.adelaide.edu.au/f/fitzgerald/f_scott/gatsby/
2.  You can borrow the book from the library.

3.  You can purchase a copy.  If you choose this option and purchase from an online seller, please do so soon so that you will receive the book while we are working on it.

You can also share a copy with a friend.  If you choose to share, please be sure to coordinate the book's use so that both parties have easy access to it.

This is for all of my students: Periods 1, 3, 4, 5 & 7.  Please pass the word to other students who may not have signed up for Remind 101 yet.

Thank you and enjoy Spring Break!

Period 5: 4/12/13

Period 5

Please write a well constructed response to the following for a homework grade:

After viewing a portion of the movie The Help, how is the movie different from the book?  Do the changes fit well with the story line or do you prefer the book the way it was written?
If you had a major role in creating the movie, how would you have transformed the book to come to life?

Period 3: 4/12/13

Period 3

Please write a well constructed response to the following for a homework grade:

After viewing a portion of the movie The Help, how is the movie different from the book?
Why do you think the movie's producers, writers and director made the beginning of the movie the way it is versus the beginning of the book?  How is it or isn't it more effective than the book?
